What importers should specify

Yellow peas are a commodity, but one quotation is not automatically equivalent to another. Buyers should identify whether they need whole or split product, end use, acceptable colour and soundness, crop year, inspection criteria and whether the goods will be delivered in bags, containers or bulk. A request that omits grade or destination can attract indicative prices that are impossible to compare fairly.

Build a practical yellow-pea specification

A useful purchasing specification states acceptable moisture, purity, foreign matter, damaged kernels, pesticide residue limits where applicable, and any buyer-specific process criteria. The relevant testing method, sampling plan, acceptable laboratory and settlement procedure should be agreed with the exporter. We do not publish generic thresholds as universal Russian grades: the required standard varies by contract and importing country.

Choosing a logistics and price basis

For traditional bulk sea cargo, a buyer may ask for an indicative FOB loading-port or CFR destination-port quotation. Container movements can require FCA or CPT rather than FOB/CFR. Always include the exact named place and Incoterms 2020 rule. Under CFR the seller pays contractual freight to the named destination port, while risk ordinarily transfers when the goods are placed on board at loading.

From inquiry to supplier offer

Submit the crop year preference, precise quantity in metric tonnes, destination and expected purchase order date. Where a suitable and compliant exporter is available, we may facilitate the introduction and clarification of your RFQ. The eventual supplier determines stock, certificates, shipment schedule, price and payment conditions. Neither an RFQ submission nor a website listing creates a confirmed offer.

Frequently asked questions

Technical and commercial answers below are general sourcing guidance. Actual contracts and current destination rules prevail.

Can I buy 25 tonnes?

State the quantity requested. Minimum shipment sizes are supplier-specific, so a full-container inquiry may be possible but is not guaranteed.

Can I request food-grade yellow peas?

Yes. Use the food-grade page and specify processing application, buyer standards and laboratory requirements.

Is freight included?

Only if the exporter offers a named delivery term that includes relevant freight. Ask for a written quotation with Incoterm and named place.
